VPaint brings a fresh approach to vector graphics, in order to simplify it. The software places a good amount of tools at your disposal, for creating and animating 2D vector-based graphics. Simplicity is one of its best features. Rather than burdening you with complicated tools and menus, the software lets you do most of the work by clicking and dragging in a clean and simple environment.

VPaint is considered an experimental program, in its Beta stage. It is available for Windows, Mac and Linux and it is absolutely free. Downloading and installing the software doesn't take more than a minute and it doesn't involve any complicated preparations. Also, you don't have to meet any special requirements or sacrifice too many resources.

The user interface has a clean and efficient design. The relatively small amount of options should encourage any user to get started right away. Besides the basic drawing too, you can also find toggling options for intersections and snapping, a sculpting tool and more. Additionally, the software provides a few display and animation options, on the same interface.

It is safe to say that VPaint's snapping capabilities are quite remarkable. The program automatically corrects your drawings, by straightening your lines or smoothening other shapes. Furthermore, with the intersections feature turned on, you will be able to create near-perfect shapes. If you draw one of your lines too long, on a square for example, the program will detect the excess, based on the drawing's intersections. This means that you can simply select the bit that is too much, with a single click and delete it right away, instead of making complex corrections or complicating your life with an eraser.

Animating a drawing is quite easy. The program lets you work with keyframes in a compact timeline, in the lower region of the interface. You can draw a shape and modify it gradually, on each frame, but a faster way is to use VPaint's smart copying and pasting options. For example, if you paste your drawing in the last frame with the "Motion Paste" option, the program will consider all in-between frames part of the same animation. In this particular situation, you only need to modify your drawing in the last frame and the program will animate it for you.

Pros

The software's special snapping and intersection features can help you draw more efficiently. Also, VPaint can help you animate your drawings faster and easier.

Cons

You need to go over the documentation carefully, before using this program. Regardless of your field of expertise, if it involves representing something graphically, VPaint will make your work significantly easier.
